Emergency Exercise to Begin Sunday

(IsraelNN.com) Beginning Sunday, Israel embarks on a major security exercise, which will continue for several days, culminating in a nationwide siren alert on Tuesday, which will simulate a situation where the civilian population in the country is under missile attack. For the first time, security officials will broadcast direct instructions on how to take cover during Tuesday's drill on live television. The broadcast will be on Channel 33 at 10 AM.
The exercise, designed to ensure proper cooperation between rescue and security services, begins Sunday with exercises by professional and volunteer groups on various scenarios they may be called upon to deal with. The IDF emphasized a number of times in the past few days that the exercise had nothing to do with political or security events that have occurred in recent weeks, and that the exercise was planned months in advance.
