Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Ben Gurion
An emergency situation was called Saturday afternoon at Ben Gurion Airport when the pilot of a Continental Airlines plane called the control tower and said he needed to make an emergency landing. Rescue officials, police, and some 70 ambulances gathered near the runway to evacuate the plane's 241 passengers to hospitals, if needed.
The plane eventually landed safely. The problem was traced to a short circuit that raised the temperature of the engine to higher than normal levels.
