A photograph of three French paratroopers performing Nazi salutes in front of a Nazi flag has triggered an investigation by France's Defense Ministry. Two of the men on active duty were detained March 28.  The third is no longer enlisted.

The incriminating photograph was published in the French satirical weekly Le Canard Enchaine, making headlines on Wednesday.

In February, three French police officers were witnessed making Nazi salutes and shouting "Sieg Heil," as well as other racist and anti-Semitic slurs, in a northern France pub.
