This Sabbath marks the end of the 30-day mourning period for the eight yeshiva students cruelly gunned down by an Arab terrorist in the library of the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva. A memorial will be held in the Yeshiva - but for those who cannot attend, another method of marking this important occasion has been formulated: studying a particular Torah section, either alone or together with others via the Internet.
The selected topic of study is slavery in the Bible and its abolition as a tenet of a Jewish society. The study is to be based on Exodus 21: 1-6 and on the commentary of Nachmanides to Exodus 21:2.
For those who wish to hear a class on the topic, a Hebrew class will be given via Internet on the Machon Meir website, at http://www.machonmeir.org.il/, at 1:30 p.m. Israel time today (Thursday).
