Former Defense Minister Amir Peretz (Labor) will hold the first gathering of his "Social Camp" faction Wednesday evening. The meeting will be the first since Peretz lost the chairmanship of the Labor Party to former Prime Minister and current Defense Minister Ehud Barak last June.
Since resigning as Defense Minister in the wake of the Second Lebanon War, Peretz has refrained from political organizing. Recently, however, he has traded barbs with Barak, and the meeting appears to be an initial attempt to return to a position of power inside the Labor Party.
