Senior Lebanese politician Walid Jumblatt called Monday to topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad.  Jumblatt, who is one of Lebanon’s most prominent Druze leaders, called Assad’s Syria “the primary focal point of terrorism” in an interview with his party’s paper.

Jumblatt is an outspoken critic of Syrian involvement in Lebanon.  Tensions between pro- and anti-Syrian forces in Lebanon have grown in recent months as pro-Syrian legislators refuse to vote in a new president unless they are granted veto power in parliamentary votes.
