Synagogue Shooting Trial Begins in Norway

Three men went on trial in Norway on Monday for allegedly shooting at a synagogue in Oslo in 2006 and planning attacks on the United States and Israeli embassies in the city.  No one was injured in the synagogue shooting.

The three are the first to be tried under Norway’s new, stricter anti-terrorism laws.  They have denied the charges against them.  Their lawyers expressed confidence on Monday that the evidence against the men would be insufficient for a conviction.
