Israel Defense Forces (IDF) personnel Monday morning began voting to choose a national bird for Israel. Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi opened up the voting in a ceremony in Tel Aviv.

The voting is part of events during the week to increase awareness of nature and the environment.
