The far-left human rights organization B'tselem has asked the Attorney General and the Chief IDF Prosecutor to open an investigation into what it claims was an extrajudicial "execution" of four wanted Islamic Jihad terrorists. The four were killed by an elite undercover unit of the IDF in Bethlehem on March 12.

B'tselem's demands include an investigation of the Central District Commander and the Chief of Staff, as well as the soldiers involved and their regional commander.

According to B'tselem, the IDF unit in question acted contrary to the guidelines issued by the High Court of Justice, according to which soldiers are to attempt to arrest terrorists if at all possible. Instead, B'tselem claims, the soldiers shot the terrorists as they sat in a parked car, after which one of the soldiers shot them again at point-blank range.
