Six hundred external lecturers at Jerusalem's Hebrew University announced an official labor dispute on Wednesday.

According to the instructors, they are being employed under conditions inappropriate for an academic institution. The lecturers insist that efforts at negotiations have not produced results.

Hebrew University hosts approximately 600 external instructors; there are a total of between four and five thousand such instructors employed at the nation's universities at any one time.
