Rice May Meet PA Officials in Jordan

American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice probably will talk with Palestinian Authority (PA) officials in Jordan instead of Ramallah during her upcoming trip to the region, American State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters. "She is going to be traveling to Jerusalem. She is going to be traveling to Amman. I think she is going to be having some of her meetings with Palestinian officials actually in Amman," he said.

One of the reasons for Secretary's Rice not meeting PA leaders in Ramallah, where the PA is based, may be security. During her last visit, angry mobs surrounded the PA compound as she met with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, and PA security forces had to use force to disperse the demonstrators.
