Saudi Arabia is organizing an interfaith conference on the issue of morals and family values.
Saudi King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud said Tuesday in a statement published in the London-based Arabic-language al-Hayat and al-Sharq al-Awsat newspapers that “With Allah’s aid we will meet our brethren of the Torah and the New Testament. Together we will prevent the decay of morality and family values in our society and replace the contempt and hurtfulness omnipresent in our world with genuine human fealty.”
The king said in the interview that he met with Pope Benedict XVI regarding the proposed interfaith meetings as well. A well-known pro-Zionist Muslim author was converted to Catholicism on Sunday in a public ceremony covered by international media.
