An El Al plane sustained extensive damage on Monday when one of its tires burst as it took off from a Toronto airport. The plane, a Boeing 767, landed safely despite damage to one wing. Officials said they would investigate the cause of the malfunction.
El Al officials released a public statement saying, “This kind of malfunction is likely to happen from time to time. At no point were the plane or its passengers in danger.” However, experts quoted on Channel 10 news said the malfunction was quite dangerous, and could have caused much more serious harm.
