Lieberman Enters, Arab MKs Leave

(IsraelNN.com) Members of Knesset belonging to the Arab parties and the left-wing Meretz stood up and left the Knesset on Monday when MK Avigdor Lieberman, head of Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home) entered the hall.  The MKs who left explained that they were protesting a recent statement Lieberman made threatening that a new government would “take care of” Arab Israelis and MKs who express support for terrorist actions.

Hadash head MK Mohammed Barakeh compared Lieberman to former MK Rabbi Meir Kahane, the head of the now-banned Kach party.  He accused both parties of “incitement against Arab citizens,” and said his party would treat Lieberman as it treated Kahane.  Arab MKs often walked out in protest of Kahane, whose party called to force Arabs to leave the country if they would not swear loyalty to the state and accept Jewish sovereignty.
