Barak Plans to Move Migron South

(IsraelNN.com) Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Monday that he plans to move the Jewish town of Migron five kilometers to the south.  Residents of the community, which is not authorized by the government, have already received letters warning them that they will be forcibly evicted from their homes within six months.

According to Channel 10 news, Barak plans to transfer the entire community of approximately 300 Jews from its current location near Ramallah to a new location north of Jerusalem.  The town will be rebuilt between Neve Yaakov and Geva Binyamin.  The new location is in a “settlement block” that Israel plans to keep in any future peace deal with the Palestinian Authority, officials in Barak’s office explained.
