MKs Gilad Erdan (Likud), Dov Henin (Hadash) and Yohanan Plesner (Kadima) have proposed a bill that would install water-saving devices in all public buildings. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) helped draft the proposal.
Experts have expressed concern over a possible water shortage next year following several years of below-average rainfall. According to a recent poll conducted by SPNI, more than 90 percent of Israelis are aware of the crisis, 70 percent are willing to take steps to conserve water, and 50 percent are willing to pay for water-saving devices from their own pockets.
