Report: Syria Fears War in Lebanon Reported: 18:57 PM - Mar/24/08
(IsraelNN.com) British sources quoted in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siasa reported that Syria has moved additional troops to its border with Lebanon due to fears of a conflict between Hizbullah and Israel. According to the report, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of the possibility of an Israeli attack in areas of Lebanon bordering Syria if Hizbullah were to attack Israel as it has threatened. Hizbullah has issued several threats against Israel in recent weeks following the assassination of arch-terrorist Imad Mughniyeh. Hizbullah has accused Israel of involvement in Mughniyeh’s death. The group held a mass memorial rally in Beirut on Monday in which Hizbullah head Hassan Nasrallah gave a speech via video.
