U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney received briefings from Israel's top defense officials Sunday afternoon in a meeting at Defense Minister Ehud Barak's apartment in the Akirov Towers in northern Tel Aviv.
The guests on the Israeli side included Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, Military Intelligence chief Maj.-Gen. Amos Yadlin, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai, Defense Ministry Director Pinchas Buchris, Israel's Ambassador to the U.S. Salai Meridor and others. The American group included Cheney's top advisors and the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Richard Jones.
According to TV Channel 10, Israeli officials who met Cheney have concluded that a U.S. strike against Iran is not about to occur in the near future.
