U.S. Vice President Richard Cheney arrived in Israel Saturday night for talks with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Cheney was taken directly from Ben Gurion Airport to Olmert's residence in Jerusalem, and the two will hold a news conference later Saturday evening.

Cheney, who was in Iraq earlier last week, arrived here Saturday night directly from Saudi Arabia. A spokesperson for Cheney said that his talks with Olmert will deal with ways to expand negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, and ensuring that Israel is able to defend its citizens.
