The Council of Local Authorities called Thursday to prevent artists who dodged the draft from performing in the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.  The council called on mayors not to hire such artists for local concerts in honor of the day.

It is not appropriate for artists to perform on Independence Day if they are known to have avoided army service, council members said.  It would be particularly inappropriate due to the fact that Independence Day is one day after Memorial Day for fallen IDF soldiers, they said.
