The State of Israel asked the District Court in Tel Aviv Wednesday to reject a petition by 40 Sderot residents who demanded to be allowed not to pay taxes.
The state's attorney told Judge Avi Zamir that the security situation in Sderot does not merit an exemption from paying taxes, and that in any case, the court cannot determine when the level of security in Sderot is identical to that in Ramat Aviv. "We believe there are circumstances here that the court cannot discuss," she said.
