Egyptian police told Agence France Press (AFP) Tuesday that they intercepted 1,100 pounds of explosives and 40 landmines over the past week.
The police say the bombs were found in two separate caches - both near the Gaza border.
The explosives were being readied for smuggling into Gaza.
