(IsraelNN.com) Archaeologists in Austria have discovered artifacts, one of which bears the prayer Shema Yisrael, that archaeologists say proves the existence of a Jewish community in the area since at least the third century in the Common Era. University of Vienna researchers found a silver pendant with the prayer in a child's grave at an ancient Roman burial site. The prayer in the pendant was written in Greek.

The graves were discovered 22 years ago. Prof. Nives Doneus, who discovered the pendant, said she did not notice the letters inside the scroll until 2006.
