A new bill initiated by Likud Knesset Member Gilad Erdan that would require companies to place a sticker with traffic offense report information on its fleet vehicles has been approved by the Knesset Economic Affairs Committee for its first reading.
The sticker would encourage the public on the road to report offenses they witness by company drivers and would bear a 24-hour hotline number to receive the calls. Companies that ignore the law would be fined NIS 26,000.
The report information would be forwarded to the National Road Safety Authority and be stored in a database. Offending drivers would not be charged or fined but those who are reported repeatedly would be more closely monitored.
