Report: Lupolianski’s Choice Helped Attack Victims

Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski played a vital role in protecting two municipal workers who were attacked by an Arab mob on Salah A-Din street in the capital city last week, according to the hareidi-religious weekly Hashavua B’Yerushalayim.  Months ago, Lupolianski decided to use funding given him to provide himself with an armored car to protect municipal vehicles.

Lupolianski explained at the time that despite his status as a “protected public figure,” he felt it was inappropriate for a mayor to “hide behind armored windows.”  One of the vehicles provided with extra protection with the money set aside for an armored car for the mayor was the vehicle driven by the two workers who were attacked.  While the mob managed to damage the car, the two workers were unhurt in the incident.
