Reported
A Year Ago Today at IsraelNN.com (IsraelNN.com) News agencies reported that Syria has been deploying thousands of missiles at the border that can strike Israeli cities, as Hizbullah did during the Second Lebanon War. IDF officials denied the reports, maintaining that they were "based on incorrect information." However, three sources from the IDF and two from the government, all speaking on condition of anonymity, told news agencies that Syria has built a system of fortified underground tunnels along its border with Israel. "We have noticed that in recent months Syria has deployed hundreds, possibly thousands, of medium and long-range rockets along the border (with Israel)," one Israeli security source said. "Many of the rockets are hidden in underground chambers and in camouflaged silos, which make them very difficult to locate." Most of the rockets already deployed can reach Haifa and its industrial zone. --Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said he expected the unity government deal between Hamas and Fatah terrorists, to be completed this week, to form a united front against Israel. ![]() Sign up to receive the Daily Israel Report by email (Free) © IsraelNN Syndications - This article may not be republished freely.
