--The World Bank suspects irregularities in $100 million that was sent through the offices of Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in 2006. Abbas has received more than $250 million in aid from Arab League nations since the American-led boycott was imposed against financing the government after the Hamas terrorist organization won a majority in the legislature last year.

--The IDF's OC Southern Command painted a grim picture of the southern front. "Since the Disengagement, 2,053 Kassams have been launched at Israel," Maj. Gen. Yoav Galant told diplomats and foreign reporters in a briefing in Jerusalem. "296 explosive charges have been detonated. 143 attacks have been carried out against tanks that were outside the security fence, not inside Gaza. There were 260 incidents of gunfire at IDF forces outside of the fence. This is the Palestinian response to Israel's aspiration to peace. "The situation has been thrust upon us by the Palestinians and Israel is doing its best to defend itself. That is why Gaza is a 'closed zone' today," he added.
