The Sde Dov Airport in Tel Aviv will operate on Saturday despite an order by Israel Air Force rabbis to stop work on Shabbat, according to Army Radio. The IAF control tower at the airport coordinates both military and civilian flights.
Several civilian pilots who serve in the IAF reserves expressed anger following the rabbis’ ruling. The pilots expressed concern that the decision to close the Sde Dov airport on Shabbat would seriously decrease their salaries. The pilots threatened to avoid IAF activities on Shabbat if the airport were to close for Shabbat.
