Indonesian President Will Visit Iran Next Week
Indonesia's president will visit Iran next week to discuss Teheran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment as demanded by the United Nations, a government spokesman said Thursday.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to fly to Iran on Monday and hold talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the Islamic republic's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, according to the presidential spokesman, Dino Patti Djalal.
Djalal said the Indonesian president will urge Iran to cooperate with the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency. He added that Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, would continue to "support Iran's efforts to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes."
