The Security Cabinet has concluded a longer-than-expected meeting and issued a statement instructing the IDF to act to bring about a complete halt to all rocket attacks on Israel. Arab terrorists fired four rockets, including two Katyushas, in the past hour, all of which fell in open areas and caused no damage.
The statement did not detail what actions will be allowed, and officials have met with legal experts to discuss what retaliation is legally allowed when terrorists attack from within civilian areas. Senior IDF commanders, including former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz, have said that the IDF can diminish but cannot eliminate rocket attacks.
