Former Jewish residents of northern Gaza have frozen the construction process of new homes in Ashkelon due to the city coming within range of rockets from Gaza, Maariv reports.

The former residents of Nisanit say they will not move to another place where the government is allowing shelling to continue. “What will happen? We will move to Ashkelon only to be told eventually that another evacuation has been decided upon?,” said community leader Yossi Dayan, whose caravan at Moshav Karmiya was struck by a Kassam rocket last week.

The Disengagement Authority has not issued a response to the residents’ decision.
