Moment of Silence at Israeli School for Gaza Casualties

A lecturer at the Emek Yezreel (Jezreel Valley) College granted an Arab student’s request for a moment of silence on Monday in honor of “the Palestinian children who are being slaughtered in Gaza.”  The lecturer, who teaches education, asked students to keep Israeli victims in mind as well.  “You can’t expect solidarity with Gazan children alone when children are being wounded and killed and are suffering in Sderot, Ashkelon, and the towns near Gaza as well,” she told the student.

The moment of silence caused a furor on campus, and many Jewish students expressed anger at the comparison between Israeli victims of terrorism and those killed in counter-terrorist operations.  “Maybe in the next stage we’ll hang pictures of terrorist ‘martyrs’ instead of IDF commanders,” said Student Union head Netanel Isaac.
