Blind Rabbi Leads in Congressional Primaries

Rabbi Dennis Shulman, who is blind, is leading in polls for the Democratic primaries in a New Jersey district. If elected, he will be the first rabbi ever to serve in Congress.

However, the Republican incumbent, Scott Garrett, is the overwhelming favorite to keep his seat. Rabbi Shulman, a clinical psychologist, is ahead of his Democratic rival, civil rights attorney Camille Abate.
