    Katzav Opponents Plan Additional Plea

Opponents of the plea bargain offered to former President Moshe Katzav plan to file a request for a second Supreme Court hearing on the matter on Monday.  A panel of Supreme Court justices recently upheld the plea bargain.  Opponents of the plea deal argue that the deal sets a new legal precedent, and therefore should be judged again, this time by the full Supreme Court.

Katzav was accused of rape by a former employee, but was charged only with sexual harassment under a deal offered by Attorney General Menachem Mazuz.  Mazuz defended his decision to drop the more serious charges, saying the charges lacked evidence and would not be supported in court.
