Arabs Plant Shell Near Beit El, Kids Endangered

Arabs planted an old explosive shell inside a tire near the fence surrounding Beit El, in Samaria. Children from Beit El found the tire, which was partly burnt, and discovered the shell inside it. They then carried the shell over to the community's security center, where the emergency operators called in the IDF and police.

Police sappers determined that the shell dated back to British Mandate times, and carried out a controlled explosion. The Beit El security coordinator, Menachem Tzur, told Nfc that the boys behaved irresponsibly when they carried the shell. "It was a miracle the shell didn't explode in their hands," he explained.

The Beit El security department said the planting of the shell was an escalation of terrorist activity by the local Arabs.
