Rami Levi, the discount supermarket chain with branches in Jerusalem, Modi'in, Beit Shemesh, Binyamin and Gush Etzion, is considering expanding to Jewish markets in the US, according to Globes business news.
The store would initially open branches in Jewish neighborhoods in New York and Los Angeles. Talks are underway on the acquisition of several private independent supermarkets, with the aim of merging them into one chain. Rami Levy himself is planning a week-long visit to the US in order to move the idea forward.
Future expansion will include Tel Aviv as well.
