The government responded to a Supreme Court petition on Sunday, saying that all medical tests performed on IDF soldiers will be performed with Health Ministry supervision and according to ministry guidelines. Physicians for Human Rights and several soldiers petitioned the court against the experiments, particularly Anthrax vaccine experiments codenamed “Omer 2.”
Physicians for Human Rights is asking to stop the tests, and says that soldiers were not properly informed about the experiments they agreed to take part in. The soldiers say they suffered long-term health problems after participating in medical tests, and are asking the government to fund their treatment and to compensate them for their suffering.
