10,000 Strong at Sderot Shopping Convoy

Police have told the organizers of a convoy of citizens to Sderot that they believe 10,000 people have already entered the shell-battered town to carry out shopping and show identification with the residents. The organizers' spokeswoman, Efrat Klein, told Arutz Sheva that the road leading to Sderot from Yad Mordechai junction is completely jammed with cars and that she believes the vehicles number more than 1,000.

The organizers, a volunteer group from Modi'in, are handing out maps of Sderot to the visitors, and recommending that they shop at small shops and grocery stores as opposed to the larger chains. The convoys are coming in from Raanana, Kfar Saba, Modi'in, as well as smaller communities in Israel's north and south, Klein said.

The Modi'in group has organized four such shopping convoys so far, and they keep on doubling in size. When asked how today's convoy compared to the previous one, Klein said: "Wow."
