Army soldiers arrested 23 wanted terrorists, including 14 in the Shechem area overnight. They also discovered a revolver and a firebomb. Nine other terrorists were arrested in other areas of Judea and Samaria.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has claimed that the presence of Israeli soldiers in the area interferes with their status of being the security authority in the city, where it recently deployed American-trained police. The American government has been counting on the PA to show it can break down the terrorist infrastructure in the area and maintain law and order.
