Maj.-Gen. (res.) Doron Almog said Wednesday that "Hamas's leaders simply have not suffered enough, and they need to suffer more." He added: "We can achieve deterrence."
Speaking at the Jerusalem Conference, Almog said: "We should have gone into Gaza and this is a moral act… There is certainly justification for hitting infrastructures." Deterrence needs to be built on force, Almog said, and the most important element in force is the fighting spirit, which needs to be inculcated in children from an early age.
"Any armed confrontation must end quickly," Almog said. He spoke of the importance of the element of surprise and creativity in military actions.
