A former Nazi criminal has lost his appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada and has been extradited to Italy, where he is to serve a life sentence in jail. Michael Seifert was a SS commander of a camp in northern Italy. He has been sentenced in absentia for murder and torture.
Now 84, Seifert, was known for his cruelty and was called the Beast of Bolanzo, where Jews were imprisoned until authorities could transfer them to German death camps. He has lived in Canada since 1951 and fought extradition for eight years.
