Knesset Law Stiffens Jail Term for Beating Elderly

(IsraelNN.com) The Knesset has passed on second and third readings a bill that provides for harsher sentences for anyone who assaults an elderly person and causes bodily injury. The bill was proposed last year and again this year following an escalation in brutal attacks against old people.

The bill defines an elderly person as being 65 or older and increases the maximum prison sentence from three to five years.
