A Dutch singer, who was a favorite of Adolf Hitler, returned to stage in the Netherlands at the age of 104 and under heavy security, according to the European Jewish Press. The singer, Johan Heesters, appeared in his native town of Amersfoot, east of Amsterdam. Guards were on hand to prevent anyone from entering with a Nazi uniform, as had been encouraged by an Internet web site.
Heesters continued his career in Germany after the war, when he specialized in operettas and sang for Nazis.
