(IsraelNN.com) President Shimon Peres told the Forum of 15 Large Cities this week, "Just as a man stops smoking, the city must stop smoking and the mayors must introduce stringent laws which will reduce air pollution in their region." The Forum signed an agreement to reduce air pollution in urban centers.

"Israel must encourage green industries and the use of alternative energy and strengthen its generation of young scientists," the President added. Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit noted that it is too late to solve the pollution for the older generation, but action must be taken to make sure that the future generations enjoy living in good health.
