(IsraelNN.com) A decade-long, upwards trend of anti-Semitic attacks in England continued in 2007, according to statistics released by the country's Community Security Trust.

In a 23-page report that was released Thursday, the group listed 547 anti-Semitic "incidents" during 2007, an eight percent drop over 2006 but still the second-highest number of attacks since the group began keeping records in 1984. Hate crimes included verbal and physical attacks, grave and synagogue desecrations, anti-Semitic graffiti, publication and distribution of anti-Semitic literature and more.

University campuses were particular hotbeds of anti-Semitism, with 59 incidents reported involving students or other university personnel in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham. In several incidents, Muslim students told Jewish colleagues they would be "banned from campus," and swastikas were drawn on Jewish residences and posters on several campuses.
