American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Wednesday sharpened her criticism of Egypt's lack of efforts in stopping the smuggling of weapons into Gaza. Speaking to the House of Representatives' Committee on Foreign Affairs, she echoed Israel's complaints against Egypt.
"I think it is fair to say that we have not been satisfied with Egypt's efforts on the tunnels, but that in fact those tunnels have been there for a long time and it has been hard to stop smuggling," Rice said. Egypt occasionally announces it has discovered a smuggling tunnel or a cache of arms and explosives, but Israel has documented that far more weapons enter Gaza.
