At least eight people have died and 70 others injured in motorcycle accidents in Gaza since the fall of the Rafiah border barrier last month, according to the Bethlehem-based Ma'an news agency. The spate of accidents began after hundreds of teenagers and adults brought motorcycles from Egypt back into Gaza.
Authorities said they are conducting routine checks to make sure cyclists have permits and registration papers.
