Immigration officials Tuesday arrested an unidentified South American aliyah envoy for the Jewish Agency on charges he helped non-Jews in Venezuela move to Israel. He allegedly approved their applications to move to Israel although he knew that they presented false verification that they were Jewish.
 
The Immigration Authority has conducted an undercover investigation the envoy for several months. Officials estimate that the envoy wanted to show success in bringing more Jews to Israel.
