Dov Alfon will replace David Landau as editor-in-chief of Haaretz, the paper announced Wednesday. The decision to appoint Alfon was made by the paper’s board of directors. Alfon, 46, has worked in various positions in Haaretz for 15 years.
Landau said Tuesday that he was satisfied with his four-year term as editor, and felt the paper had advocated “responsible Israeli Zionism” over the past four years. Landau made headlines recently when he asked United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to “rape” Israel.
