MK Yaakov Margi (Shas) spoke out against Attorney General Menachem Mazuz’s decision to allow homosexual adoption on Monday. Mazuz and Welfare Minister Yitzchak Herzog should send their own children to live with homosexual couples first, to see if the arrangement works, he said.
Margi argued that experts agreed that growing up with a homosexual couple would not be good for children. He accused the homosexual community of conducting a struggle over sexual identity at the expense of at-risk children.
Unlike Margi and several fellow Shas MKs, MK Yaakov Litzman (UTJ) and others from the UTJ party refused to discuss the issue of homosexual adoption. “It is ugly to even talk about it,” Litzman said. “We do not get involved in those issues.”
